Box Office Report 18jan2011

This week Report’s :

This week release, YPD did very well in the boxoffice. The weekend collection were around 23cr. This movie was getting an average critics rating but the audiences ratings are quote positive. They really liking the 2^nd half of the movie. As this movie is a masala movie , so major collection were coming from single screen.  The movie did around 30-35% in Mumbai territory, which is considered to be quite a low response. But the story is different in Delhi and Punjab territory. It got a bumper response and going great guns.  The single screen opens to around 90%, while Multiplex were around 70-80%. However in Rajasthan, YPD prospects were not quite good. It got an Avg opening of around 40%. In CP circuit, YPD managed an opening of around 55% in the single screen and 30-35% in Multiplex.  Judging by the budget and sale of rights, the producers have already made a table profit. The film has taken a bumper opening, especially in the North but avg content will dampen the prospects of distributors making a big profit. Some may even lose money.

Last week’s Reports :

No one killed Jessica had a very good 1^st week. With out the presence of any lead main stream actor and with a noncommercial subject, it collected around 20cr in its 1^st week. The collection of NOKJ in Mumbai circuit were around 7.84cr from 300screen, Delhi collected around 4.33cr from 90screen, Punjab collected around 1.92cr from 42screen, CP/CI collected around 1.10cr from 50 screen, Rajasthan collected around 61 lack from 30screen,  Mysore collected around 1.28cr from 50screen , West Bengal collected around 1.07cr from 55 screen. And others collection were 1.9cr.

The older movies Report’s:

Tees Maar Khan was able to adds only 1.15cr in its 3^rd week. The grand total of the movie is 62.15cr, with a DS around 32/33cr. The way the movie is trending it will end its run with in 65cr with a DS of 34cr. Due to the table profit, UTV will not lose money. Above Avg

The other two releases TOONPUR KA SUPERRHERO adds only 8 lacks to its total and it grand total is 3.50cr. flop

Isi Live mein…was totally washout in India, as well as in overseas.  Disaster

Band Baaja Baaraat is proving one horse race in the boxoffice. Despite stiff competition from new releases, Yash Raj's Band Baaja Baaraat continues to do well Adding another 1.5cr (approx) in its 5^th week. Band Baaja Baaraat has netted nearly 22cr in five weeks from India. But it was unfortunately a washout in the Overseas. Semi Hit    

 Prediction For New Releases:

DG is not a commercial movie , the buzz is not at all great. This movie surely have to bag on strong WOM. The main advantage of the movie is its budget. The budget of the movie is 5cr. And with publicity and print  cost it will be around 10/11cr. Looking at the Aamir khan production house it will not incurred loss for sure. DG weekend collection will be around 15cr with 600 prints.
