This is the movie which surely one of the most awaited movie of 2010.  I have always trusted Vipul Shah's movies with Akshay Kumar. Great story, climax, sweet comedy, romance and complete family entertainment movie .Specially when you think about the duo of Akki and Vipul  they gave many special movie like AANKHEN, WAQT, NAMASTEY LONDON and SINGH IS KINNG [which was produced by him and directed by Anees Bazmee] But  personally AR  disappointed me in a big time.

This is the movie which surely one of the most awaited movie of 2010.  I have always trusted Vipul Shah's movies with Akshay Kumar. Great story, climax, sweet comedy, romance and complete family entertainment movie .Specially when you think about the duo of Akki and Vipul  they gave many special movie like AANKHEN, WAQT, NAMASTEY LONDON and SINGH IS KINNG [which was produced by him and directed by Anees Bazmee] But personally AR disappointed me in a big time.
The base of the movie is adapted from a Gujrati Play with the same name. But it will make you to recall the english movie 'Back to Future' . ‘Back To The Future’ is the movie, travelling to the past to correct one’s present was staple food of science fictions the sci-fi, ro-mo combination becomes a tad too much for the director to handle. So while there are a few genuinely funny moments in Action Replayy, but spontaneous inadvertent humor is few and far between.
Another major drawback of the movie has to be its uninteresting storyline. You expect some kind of twists and turns, or at least some witty situations or dialogues, but nothing of that sort happens. Even the story progresses in an ad hoc manner. It takes nearly half movie for future Son cum present buddy Bunty to convince Akshay to propose to Aishwarya. Then suddenly a geeky, naive and coward acts like smart, arrogant and cocky guy in next 5 minutes. It looks like the editor was sleeping during first half of the movie and suddenly realized the movie was going out of length and chopped of major portion of the movie.
The other USP of the movie is the retro look of both Akki ans Aish .  however, the director try too hard to be retro. If you watch films of those period, they were not so flowery and jazzy as in this film.
I personally feel if any movie which plot is a romantic super natural comedy movie to work, then there has to be lots of collection of amazing moments, exploitations of such power could have given writer too many things to do which cannot be done in normal movie. But, story writer and screenplay writer seems to busy writing whatever we see these days in soap, mediocre and repetitive story. All this action remaindered me the story of Rab Ne Banadi Jodi, where Sharukh make over to a MACHO was done by his friend.
In the mean time there are also some funny moments in the movie. Kundan ( Rannvijay) who sings in two voices. Nice idea, but like the film, doesn’t get too far. Another funny scene is there when Aditya conversation with his father Akki about  sensitive scene taking the flower medium. Another scene will be the Phone conversation between 70,s Aish And Akki. And the best part of the movie is the dialog AWAAZZ NEECEEEHEE !!!
The only song you would remember from the movie would be ‘Jor Ka Jhatka’ and quite literally you would get a feel of the lyrics if you pin your Diwali hopes on this movie.
Performance wise Akshay have given his best and is not sleep-walking like other movies but Akshay's loser act is a bit repetitive and Aishwarya too suits the role of 70s ladies and she probably did the spices in this movie. Her introduction Holi song was very beautiful .Aditya Roy Kapoor is the most convincing of the role. Same can be said for almost all supporting actors. Music, Choreography and Cinematography are some of the elements which made the movie bearable. But back ground music is Very good.
Overall the movie sorely lacking in drama and genuine humor and everything seems to fall into place too conveniently
Verdict: With low weekend number it has to sustain in the weekdays which seem little difficult. As it is Appealing to Classes rather masses. But if it sustain well it will at best reach to Above Avg tag otherwise Flop.
