A Fantastic January 2011 For Bollywood Industry
The year 2011 starts with a bang. January witnessed 4 movies with different genre with decent content and producing hit business one after another. If I will brush up my memory , I haven’t witnessed this kind of jubilant month of January with a pouring box office collection. It is indeed a cheerful month for the bollywood movie lover to enjoy the week one after another with different test of cinemas.
The Year start with a realistic thriller, No One Killed Jessica. This movie break the long time jinx of poor first week box office record of a new year, with some Captivating performance by Rani and Vidya. The movie was made with a delicate budget of 9cr and faired excellently well to collect around 29cr till date.
The second week was witnessing to a Paissa Vasool comedy movie ,Yamla Pagla Dewaan. Deol family back with a bang with some historic collection from Northern zone. The budget of the was 24cr and collected around 50cr till date.YPD classified as first clean hit of 2011 and the movie is still going great gun to acquire some more status.
Third week was observing slightly different genre movie, A Offbeat Art movie Dhobi Ghat. This movie was fascinated some attention because of the involvement of Brand Aamir Khan. Though the movie was solely meant for the urban and multiplex audiences but the movie was fared reasonably well in its first week in all over India & overseas. And for a second thought it was not made for profit making prospect but still it will easily make some handsome profit for the producers because of its low cost around 9-10cr.
Last week was witnessing one pragmatic comedy movie of Madhu Bhandarkar's, Dil toh Baccha Hai Ji. Though the critics gave these new 3idiots a average ratings but the audiences are liking the movie. In business prospective, it opened to an average collection but again due to an reasonable budget of 28cr, it looks safe. The theatrical right of the movie has been sold at a levelheaded price of 13cr to various distributors and the way the movie is faring, the amount should be recover very comfortably . The movie has collected around 15cr in its first weekends.
So unexpectedly the first month of a year was proved to be successful for our Bollywood industry. Hope this dream run will continue and bollywood will go bigger and better in every aspect.
