Patiala House has an unexpectedly poor weekend at the box office and able to collect only 15.25-15.75cr approximately from 1400 prints. The movie opened to a very disappointing note of Friday, collecting around 4.10-4.25cr. Saturday & Sunday showed a certain improvement in its collection as the total amount garnered on both the days turned out to be 5.05-5.20cr and 6.10-615cr nett respectively. The type of collection coming from all over , the weekend occupancy level strikingly low, around 30-35% over the weekend. Though the movie got the appreciation from audiences but it failed to convert it a boxoffice success. It was the lowest opener for an recent Akshay movie, the previous lowest was Action Replay (16cr). Though the movie was not carrying a great craze & expectations, it should do well at the BO because of Positive Word-of-mouth & Akshay’s Star Power but Patiala House witnesses very poor sales across the country. The trade experts expected to do business around 40-50% occupancy level, around 20-21cr nett.
The movie fared well in territory like East Punjab followed by Delhi/UP and Rajasthan. The movie’s budget was 27-28cr approximately. The movie need at least 45cr to recover its Distributor’s cost which is looking unlikely as the movie failed on Monday. By judging the trend, first week should be under 25-26cr.
As u said bro, Askhay's bad luck is continuing. but frankly speaking this movie was not bad at all, at least much better then his nonsense comedies. Isn't it strange how a bad movie like TMK got a bumper opening but a better movie like this failed to score.
