Haunted 3-D is doing goods in the box office, it is success story for director Vikram Bhatt, India's first 3-D stereophonic film, the technique having played a major role on its success. The film took a good initial and went on to do well over the weekend to end with collections of Rs 9.3cr nett. The Monday collections are steady collecting around 1.72cr .Breakdown: Fri 2.60cr, Sat 3.00cr, Sun 3.6 cr, Mon 1.72 cr. Total: Rs 11.05 cr nett
Y-Films' Luv Ka The End, despite some appreciation, fails to cash in at the box office; its meek opening is followed by poor weekend collection of Rs 2.35cr, mainly from multiplexes. The film had no promotion of any sort.Breakdowns: Fri 60 lacs, Sat 75 lacs, Sun 1 cr, Mon 50 lacs. Total: Rs 2.85 cr nett.
Challo Dilli, a no frills small budget entertainer, does reasonably well to collect around 6.2cr nett in its first week run form 580 screen all over India. Though it is not a clean hit but a fare success for some of the distributors.
Shor In The City succeeded to find identification with the audience, being a Mumbai slums-centric film; it collects 4.30cr nett in its first week.
A bunch of other releases of 1 April, 'I Am', 'Men Will Be Men', 'Naughty@ 40' and 'Queens! Dance Of Destiny', fall by the wayside without making a mark at the box office.
Dum Maaro Dum adds another Rs 6.5cr nett (from around 1000 prints) in its 2nd week to take its tally to Rs 30cr nett approx with a distributor share around 15cr. Lots has been expected from the movie but disappointed all , the movie may touch the break down point . The movie has a budget around 29cr nett(including production, print and advertising ). The film has grossed a box office of Rs. 49crores worldwide till date. Due to the hit music and combined with the satellite, has contributed returns of 11-12cr. so
Meanwhile, Anees Bazmee's THANK YOU managed to last much longer that what many had imagined and predicted specially looking at the dissapointing first day business . Adding another 1.1cr(from around 200 prints) THANK YOU has netted 46.60cr nett in 4th weeks from India. It will surely looks quite certain to get to an average status after accounting for non-theatrical rights.
