Unheard Of Deal For Krrish 3
With due respect to corporate production houses, no one knows the business better than our veteran Rakesh Roshan. This week, Roshan revealed the brilliant business strategy he has adopted for his magnum opus Krrish 3 (Yes, the film is titled Krrish 3 and not Krrish 2).
We’re told that instead of making a corporate deal, Roshan decided to pre-sell the film, the old way. Just like we reported earlier, he received a whopping Rs 38 crore from the channel Star. And this includes the re-sale satellite of Krrish.
News is that Eros International has acquired the overseas rights for Rs 20 crore, CI has been sold for Rs 2.85 crore, Nizam Rs 3.75 crore, Rajasthan Rs 3.50 crore, CP Rs 3.50 crore, and that Roshan’s old and loyal distributor in the Punjab territory, Ashok Sharma, bought it for an unheard of price. Meanwhile, the music has been sold to T-Series for Rs 10 crore.
We’re told that Sr Roshan intends to release the film himself in the Mumbai and Delhi-UP territories, and that he’s expecting Rs 25 crore for Mumbai and Rs 15 crore for Delhi-UP. Phew!!!
As reported by us last week, a Bandra-Kurla type of set is being constructed at Ramoji Rao studios in Hyderabad and shooting will start in October. If all goes well, this film will hit the screens in June 2012.
