Aamir Khan ‘s Dhuaan Satellite Rights Sold For 40 crore?
The satellite rights of Reema Kagti’s tentatively titled film Dhuaan, featuring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee, have been reportedly sold for a stunning Rs 40 crore. Produced jointly by Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions, the film will release on January 26, 2012.
This tidbit comes hot on the heels of news that Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish 3 featuring Hrithik Roshan was reportedly sold for Rs 37 crore to Sony.
The small screen has become an exciting space for film production houses as airing a recent release ensures higher ad revenues and it also clocks higher TRPs for broadcasters. Not surprisingly, broadcasters are willing to cough up astronomical sums to acquire the satellite rights of films that are not necessarily blockbusters but those that feature bankable stars like Aamir Khan.
Quizzed about the satellite rights of Dhuaan, one of the producers of the film, Farhan Akhtar, said, “You will have to check with Ritesh (Sidhwani) about the same as right now I am concentrating on the post-production of Don 2.”
Ritesh Sidhwani was not available for comment as he is in not in the country.
