I was waiting for this movie for along time . Finally I saw it last night. Well I can say that this movie satisfied me more then impressed me. But I want say one thing The best actor award for 2010 is booked by Hrithik , with out backbone(as he is paralyzed ) he proved to be the back bone of the movie.  Sanjay Leela Bhansali has come up with yet another masterly celluloid piece as he celebrates life amidst the fast-approaching death. Yes! Even though, this film is about disease and death, it glorifies those small moments of life which a wheelchair bound Hrithik relishes. Guzaarish shows how a dying person enjoys his life to the fullest not worrying or weeping even though death is enveloping him from all sides.
Well this movie is certainly inspired from THE SEA INSIDE (accident scene) and THE PRESTIGE(The idea of magic and the plot of rivalry between two famous magicians leading to a serious conspiracy).
STORY
Ethan Mascarenhas played by Hrithik Roshan, though a perfect magician suffers serious injuries and turns a paraplegic when one of his magical trick goes terribly wrong. Yet, he doesn't lose heart and becomes a radio jockey at an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. He makes his audience laugh and enjoy. No body could imagine that the radio jockey has been confined to wheel chair for the last 14 years. The same way Sofia played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan acts as an unimaginable nurse who not only cares but falls in a kind of silent love for her patient.
While Ethan decides to end life and pleads for mercy killing through his friend-lawyer Devyani played by Shernaz Patel and supported by his mother Isabel played by Nafisa Ali, Sofia feels the shock of her life. She wonders if she hasn't taken enough care for her beloved patient Hrithik. Luckily for her, Ethan's physician Suhel Seth in the character of Dr Naik withdraws the euthanasia petition. Meanwhile Ethan agrees to teach magic to Omar played by Aditya Roy. This makes everyone heave a sigh of relief. Thus, we find a natural flow in the story though otherwise a complicated one. Bhavani Iyer and Bhansali provide adequate support to the plot with their screenplay.
PERFORMANCE
Undoubtedly the charm of the movie is Hrithik Roshan, he plays a complicated character convincingly and he come up with yet another splendid  performance. His divine looks and hard work makes his character believable. A few minutes into the film and you can’t imagine any other actor in this role. Hrithik Roshan, though paralysed, uses his eyes to masterfully express his thoughts and feelings. An award-worthy performance from this talented actor, indeed!
Aishwarya plays a graceful role this time and though her character is subdued she shows her power in few critical sequences and makes her presence felt strongly. But I feel his dialogue delivery and the dance moves were impressive and entertaining. Especially the tuneful sequence that stands out is the one where Ash breaks into dance after acting like a drum-master.
Aditya Roy, I was impressed with this lad. I praised his performance in that trashy movie AR and again he impressed me . He showed enough confidence despite the presence of big stars. He has the cool dude looks and has got potential in his act.
Monikongana Dutta was a vision of beauty but given the hype about her presence in the film, it was not meant to be so as she was there for barely five minutes and you miss it role and fails to leave an impression. Shernaz Patel is a revelation and one really wonders why she doesn’t take up more projects. She is a face in the crowd but a truly natural performer. Rajat Kapoor was excellent, Nafisa Ali was neat, Suhel was convincing, Makrand Deshpande made his presence felt. The others contributed in their own way.

DIRECTION/ SCREENPLAY

As expected, Sanjay Leela Bhansali offers drama, elegance and some magical moments in his storytelling extracting scintillating performances from the star cast at the same time. Like his earlier films, ‘Guzaarish’, is also a splendid visual treat, comparable to a fairytale setting. The mystery, magnificent and madness in the screenplay, characteristic of Bhansali’s style, will leave you spellbound, and at times, it leaves you questioning the proceedings of the tale. But this may not be Bhansali’s best product (compared to Khamoshi and Black) but he definitely leaves an impression

MUSIC:
Bhansali makes a remarkable debut as a music director. Tera zikr hai ya itra hai, Sau gram zindagi, Guzaarish and Udi are the pick of the lot. But the background score was mind-blowing and has so much feel .
LOOP HOLES
In my view Unlike Bhansali other movies this is not be his best product (compared to Khamoshi and Black). It started brilliantly but some how I feel it looses it impact. Other then Hrithik on one was able to create that pain with their expression.  And some of the loops holes are as follows..
He chose a subject of  MERCI DEATH but he shies away from showing the real death of the main character in the end and just decides to fade away into the dark with his smiling face on the screen. My point is that if you are opted a topic like this you should at least have the guts to depict the actual death of the character on the wide screen. But ended like a typical bollywood style.
The people protest against the court is very poorly directed, looking childish and Rajit Kapoor as the public prosecutor is made to overact in his few scenes The court scene and the ridiculous dialogs , it does not happen in a Court.
Hrithik’s lawyer initially refuses to file his mercy plea but suddenly agrees, without any explanation. And where the hell his mother was for last 12 year, when your son was helpless and living live with a paid nurse.
MY FAVORITES
As I said this movie is completely Hritihk’s movie , his performances can overshadow all the loopholes. This movie enlarge the though of  hope to live and hope to be loved. And the climax is truly enriching and moving. The finale, with Hrithik’s final speech, is splendid. The happiness on Hrithik’s face while travelling (after ages) from his home to court. The way the songs blend in with the script. Though the film is about mercy killing, it is beautifully handled by Bhansali, with a happy ending. Sounds ironic, even contradictory, but Bhansali makes it believable and delivers a happy ending.
As a whole this film seduces the viewer with a strong emotional quotient Without doubt, Guzaarish is one of the most best movie of the year. I can say that it is an different creation that is unlike other crass Hindi Films, with sophisticated chemistry between Sophia and Ethan. Bhansali has engendered a film that talks about human emotions and tribulations and how one must try to live and die with one’s self-esteem intact.
VERDICTS
This movie is definitely an honest attempt. But it will hardly influence Masses. So it is for  mature audience not for formula folks and its best business area will Mumbai and Mysore circuit.  BO wise it will certainly struggle to recover its high cost. However, I except the overseas business to be good mainly  US and UK and NL.

  1. A "GUZAARISH" FOR AN ORIGINAL !

IF A PRITAM OR AN ANU MALIK ARE OFTEN ACCUSED OF PLAGIARISM, THEN MR.BHANSALI SHOULD BE PUNISHED NOT JUST FOR COPING NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE,
BUT FOR PROMISING SO MUCH AND DELIVERING SO LITTLE,
PLZ MR BHANSALI STOP MAKING ONE REPLICA AFTER ANOTHER,,
YOU R SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT,
LIFTED FROM "THE SEA INSIDE"(2005), "THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY"(2007), "THE PRESTIGE"(2006), "WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY?"(1981) AND EVEN SOME PART OF THE BACKGROUND SCORE IS A LIFT FROM THE CLASSIC "REQUIEM OF DREAM"(2005),
ITS TRUE THAT "IMITATION IS THE BEST FORM OF FLATTERY"
BUT COMING FROM THE DIRECTOR WHO'S ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED FILMMAKER OF OUR TIMES IS NOT FLATTERING AT ALL..
WHY IS THAT HIS LAST 2 FILMS INCLUDING THIS ONE LOOKS THE SAME IN TERMS OF COLOR, MOOD,
    SETS, CINEMATOGRAPHY..
WHY IS THAT MOST OF HIS CHARACTER ARE CHRISTIANS/ ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE,
    ANYWAYS
THE TROUBLE GUZAARISH FACES IS THAT ITS INSPIRED BY TOO MANY FILMS,
ITS A SENSITIVE FILM WITHOUT THE PAIN,
U DONT FEEL FOR THE CHARACTERS THAT MUCH,
THE VIEWER NEEDED TO FEEL THE PAIN TO DIVE INSIDE THE SEA OF ETHAN'S PAIN
BHANSALI ACHIEVED THIS PARTICULAR FEAT WITH BLACK,
ITS A BEAUTIFULLY SHOT FILM, STUNNING VISUALS,
    GREAT CINEMATOGRAPHY,
FEW SEQUENCES DO MOVE U SPECIALLY WHEN U SEE ETHAN'S HELPLESSNESS IN SAVING SOPHIA FROM GETTING BEATEN UP BY HER HUSBAND,
ANOTHER BRILLIANT SCENE WAS WHEN ETHAN FIGHTS WITH WATER DROPS,
THE PICTURIZATION OF FEW SONGS DOES PROVIDES SOME GREAT MOMENTS HERE N THERE,
U CAN FEEL THE BREEZE IN ETHAN'S FACE WHEN HE COMES OUT OF THE HOUSE AFTER 14 YEARS,
DESPITE BEING INSPIRED BY SO MANY CLASSICS GUZAARISH DELIVERS IN MORE WAY THAN THE OTHER,
HRITHIK'S BALLON DANCE AND ASH'S FLIGHT OF TANGO IN "UDI" WILL BE REMEMBERED..
THE UNSPOKEN LOVE BETWEEN ETHAN AND SOPHIA WAS THE SAVING GRACE, ITS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS FILM, THE LOVE WAS NOT VOCAL BUT ONE CAN SENSE THE STRONG EMOTION BETWEEN THE TWO,

ITS A WELL MADE FILM BUT IT LACK THE PUNCH OF A BHANSALI FILM
IT DOESNT PROVIDES THE "LUMP IN UR THROAT"
    MOMENTS THAT OFTEN,
IT DOES MANAGES TO HOLD THE VIEWER TILL THE END
THE SOUNDTRACK OF THIS FILM IS A FAR CRY FROM
"KHAMOSHI", "HDDCS", "DEVDAS", THE BACKGROUND SCORE OF "BLACK" AND THE SOUNDTRACK OF "SAAWARIYA"..
BHANSALI SIR PLZ GO GET A COMPOSER !
    ON THE PERFORMANCE FRONT
GUZAARISH IS A HRITHIK ROSHAN'S SHOW, WHICH SALVAGES, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT,
HE MANAGES TO CONVEY EVERY PURE EMOTION IN THE BOOK THROUGH HIS EYES,
THE DIALOGUE DELIVERY, EVERTHING HE DID WAS BRILLIANT,
ONE CAN SENSE THAT THE ACTOR WILL BE A STRONG CONTENDER FOR THE BEST ACTOR'S TROPHY AT ALL MAJOR AWARD SHOWS NEXT YEAR,
AND AISH IN HER BEST PERFORMANCE SO FAR BRINGS IN SO MUCH DIGINITY,
MAKING HER EXTREMELY SELFLESS SUPPORT SO BELIEVABLE ON SCREEN,
SHE WAS FANTASTIC IN THE COURTROOM SCENE, SPITTING FIRE THROUGH HER EYES,
HER EYES SPOKE SO MUCH THIS TIME
STRANGELY ITS BHANSALI UNDER WHOM AISH HAS GIVEN HER BEST IN HER CAREER SO FAR IN "HDDCS", "DEVDAS" AND NOW THE BEST OF THEM ALL "GUZAARISH",

GUZAARISH WILL BE REMBERED FOR ITS PERFORMANCES NOT AS A MASTER PIECE ...
