Box Office Report 1 March 2011
Tanu Weds Manu has done reasonably well over the weekend, improving marginally each day and facing a small drop on Sunday because of the India-England World Cup match. The film has several interesting situations as an NRI doctor with an Indian heart falls for the first girl he meets in the process of an arranged marriage match.
Having opened with Rs 3.25cr on Friday, it collected Rs 11.25cr nett in the opening weekend. The film, however, has registered a major drop on Monday, which is more noticeable at single screens. First weekend breakdowns : Friday: 3.26cr, Saturday : 4.33cr, Sunday : 3.66cr.
Meanwhile, 7 Khoon Maaf is a box office debacle from Vishal Bhardwaj, an outcome of a senseless script and indulgent execution. Having been rejected from day one, the film has manage to collect only 15.5cr nett from 800 prints in the first week. The movie fell badly from Monday onwards. In the 2nd weekends the movie registered a fall around 80% from its 1st week. Verdict : Flop
Patiala House fell in week two with around 6.25cr nett business from 1000 prints. The daily collections were steady but in the lower range. The two week total is 30.50cr nett approx. The movie will carp up under 33cr. Verdict : Flop
Yeh Sali Zindagi has bravely survived through its 3rd week to add about 1cr nett from 290 prints, total net collection stands at Rs 11.75cr nett. Verdict : Above Average
