Box Office Report: 7th March 2011
The week's alone release, Yeh Faasley, proves a fruitless train with no takers; whatever little chance it had of drawing a few curios viewers was lost to two Oscar winning English movies, King's Speech and Black Swan, also released last week, taking away completely its target audience.
Tanu Weds Manu has done very well in its first week by collecting 18.75cr nett from 900 print approx. certainly the World Cup 2011 has taken some footfalls away from theatres, but despite that, Tanu weds manu has managed a decent second weekend at the box office. It was able to collect around 5.5cr in its second weekend. The drop was 55% lower to it’s 1st weekend collection. It has also got the benefit of poor 2nd week opposition form a non starter movie “ Yeh Faasley” keeps the film's collections steady. Now its 10-day total reaches to Rs 23.75cr nett. The distributor share was nearly 12 crore. Looking at the trend second week will finish around 26cr mark. And there is every possibility that Tanu Weds Manu will hit 32-33cr mark. The movie’s breakeven point is around 22-23cr, at 25cr it will recover its Distributor’s overflow and at 27-28cr the movie will be a hit. Second Weekend Breakdown: Friday : 1.30cr, Saturday : 2.0cr, Sunday : 1.95cr.
7 Khoon Maaf confirms its rejection at the box office by dropping badly with around 2.50cr nett business from 460 prints in its 2nd week. And its two weeks total take to 17cr nett approx. Even though the movie was sold with a very reasonable price to distributor, still then it was failed to collect even decent collection. The movie is A big flop for distributors.
Similarly Patiala House has crashed completely in the third week and grossed around 1.50cr nett from 360 print approx . Three week total reaches to 31cr nett approx and will end its run at 32 cr nett. FLOP
