A long 3 years has been invested in to this project. Looks like the director's attention was more in keeping the animation right, that probably led to a bad job in the writing, which goes stray track at some points. While the first half is slow the second half is quite exciting. And the music of the movie is bad, which is not causing any good for the movie.
Definitely performances of Ajay Devgn deserve stature. It is not easy by any means to act in a live action animation film, where you are supposed to be talking to character who are created later graphically. Kajol has relatively lesser job to do but is good in what she does. The kids, Amey and Chinki could have done a little better. Cameo roles by Tanuja, Mukesh Tiwari and Raza Murad are effective. Kireet Khurana’s direction is pertinent and skillful. All the characters are given significance in the story. He has given enough space to characters such as Bolly, Loveena, Jagaaro, Professor Homi, Gappi, Pandu and Beegben and others.
However, the film certainly boasts of a good quality animation and will have the kids laughing boisterously throughout. A simple movie with its heart at the right place, Toonpur ka Superhero is a Christmas treat for the ‘baccha party’. Animation films on a bigger budget and scale are quite rare in India. And staggeringly, this live action and animation film turns out to be a good entertainer. But don’t except much guys , It is not exactly in the category as Hollywood greats in the same genre but this is advancement in Indian standards.
